SecureDR: Database Replication for Disaster Recovery
SecureDR (SDR) primarily replicates databases via log shipping and currently supports DB2 and Informix. SDR provides Secure Data/Database Replication and can be implemented for Disaster Recovery purposes. SDR is one of StarTek's tools used during datacenter relocations when zero to minimal downtime is desired. SDR is developed by two Sr. Unix Administrators / Sr. DBA.s of Informix and Oracle. SDR's new features, platforms to support, and business requirements for future releases is lead by a multi-certified Sr. Server and Storage Technical Expert. StarTek's implementation services support SecureDR internationally for Datacenter Relocations, HA, DR. SDR can tie into TSM, Veritas and other existing Enterprise Backup systems. We have also been requested and are considering allowing SDR to be part of a storage/hardware replication solution.
SecureDR uses standard built-in OS commands and database utilities to copy, replicate and restore any relational database (journalizing must be turned on) in case of a disaster. SecureDR is based on basic and time tested utilities that have compression and security built in. SecureDR utilizes backed up transaction logs at its core and works in conjunction with or without HADR/HDR. SecureDR supports most major operating systems / platforms including: Linux/Unix/Windows (RedHat, SuSe, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Windows, etc.). SecureDR also supports major mission critical applications such as Exchange, SAP(SDR has been replicating some SAP environments for over 6 years).
SDR allows index transfers without locks, one to many/many to one (replicating unlimited / more than two servers), security via SCP/SSH (Secure Shell), compression, configurable delay(s), checksums and many other features.
